Reading COFFIN MOON

I picked it up because I was trawling NPR’s Books We Love site again. The horrorlit subreddit also had good things to say about Rosson’s COFFIN MOON, plus it was our book, so I had easy access.

It IS good—characters, writing, and all. I’d say the story is pretty simple; the description lays it out for you. But what’s interesting is how Rosson reveals the characters, including the vampire. Fleshes them out really well, gives them room to breathe.

A line I really liked:

”I guess we just wait and see,” he said. Months later he would be stunned at the grand luxury of such a thought. That he’d had enough breathing room in his life to say something so fucking dumb.

Still have over a third of the book to go, though. Oh, and been using my new gooseneck phone holder and a nifty bluetooth ring controller for hands-free reading. I laugh at myself while doing it, while feeling very smug at the same time.
